چکیده

The estimation of the concentration of sodium and potassium in plasma is performed routinely by automatic analysis in most hospital laboratories and has been shown to be accurate and reproducible (Snodgrass, Fuwa, and Hviid, 1962). The range of concentrations of these electrolytes in urine is so wide that they cannot be estimated satisfactorily by this method. We have, therefore, modified the Technicon2 method for the estimation of sodium, potassium, and chloride so that all three electrolytes can be estimated on the same sample in concentrations of 0 to 200 mEq./l. using standard equipment.

The Association Between Salt and Potassium Intake With Multiple Sclerosis

Background: The number of patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is increasing in Iran. Studies have shown that high sodium chloride (salt) and low potassium intake are associated with the development of MS. High physiological salt concentrations can lead to the induction of Interleukin-17 (IL-17) accompanied by the excessive generation of helper T-17 cells (Th-17). This cytokine plays a critica...

Procedure for calibrating the Technicon Colorimeter I.

We describe a rapid method for calibrating the Technicon AutoAnalyzer colorimeter I. Test solutions of bromphenol blue are recommended for the calibration, in preference to solutions of potassium dichromate, based on considerations of the instrument's working range and of the stray light characteristics of the associated filters.

An automated method for serum calcium utilizing ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid.

A FUNDAMENTAL DIFFICULTY in estimating calcium in serum by photometry arises from the fact that the normal range is narrow relative to the concentration of calcium. In the cases of sodium and chloride which also possess narrow normal ranges, the automation problem has been approached in two different ways. For sodium the Technicon Flame Photometer incorporates an electrical range expander. In t...
